As Group B's experiential learning is beginning to die down, there is an increase in energy at the work sites in an effort to get as much done as possible before departure on Friday.
Dr. Valla and 1/C McGrann took eight cadets back to the Habitat for Humanity Restore where they finished their painting project from yesterday. Their work also included chipping and a crash course in ladder safety courtesy of 1/C McGrann.
At Site A siding was completed on the exterior walls and gables and painting began. On the interior of the house support beams were placed to ensure maximum structural support.
Over at Site B, the cadets were split between the two homes originally worked on yesterday. Several cadets finished trimming the windows before moving on to paint the homes exterior. Tomorrow the shutters and trim will be painted as well. The site manager was very pleased with the progress, especially given we are two days ahead of schedule. The remainder of the cadets at Site B finished siding the exterior of the home.
Tomorrow the cadets will begin their second to last day of work at the construction sites and have an opportunity to visit the Lake County Emergency Operations Center before a cookout dinner put on by the rates and faculty.
The cadets are enjoying the warm weather as much as they can before returning to Massachusetts.
