Day 4 in Bermuda and we learned more about the ecosystems here on the island. My group started the day with a trip to the Bermuda Aquarium.
As we arrived there we got a private tour of the behind the scenes view of how they care for and feed the variety of animals they are responsible for.
My favorite animal was the fossa, which is the top predator on the island of Madagascar.
We got to see how they house all the underwater creatures and the lighting required for the corals they have. They also have massive sea turtles and tiny baby ones they are caring for until they are big and strong enough to return to the wild.
After returning to BIOS we got a crash course on Bermuda's native corals and how these animals survive using a symbiotic relationship with plants that live in their internal calcium carbonate structure.
Looking forward to what the rest of the week has to offer.
