Today, we switched things up and instead of working at the construction site, my group went to another house to help paint the exterior. Some were tasked with painting the sides of the house while others were tasked to build a fence in a backyard.
I volunteered to go to a different house and paint the back door. After our long day of painting, we headed over to Veterans Village where people who were gifted Habitat homes gave us a cookout lunch to thank us for our service on the job sites.
I don't have any experience in construction or painting but that's what has made this trip so much fun! Everyday, I get to try something new and I learn new things. I love seeing the progress that we have made on the houses just during the two days we have been working on the sites.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanities to help build and repair these houses for people in need. It is nice to know that the hard work you are putting in daily is making a big difference in someone else's life. That is the most rewarding things for me on this trip. I look forward to the rest of the trip and seeing how much more progress we will make on the houses.
