Today we went to Disney World. This was a particularly special day because it was a break from our regular routine. For the past week we have done everything exactly the same everyday down to the very minute. We would leave to get breakfast at 0630 and arrive at 0645. We would get to the work site at 0845, work until 1430, and be back by 1530. Everything is planned exactly how the rates want it to be. Today was extremely different.
Today we had our normal schedule up until they dropped us off, as soon as we got out of the van at 1000, we had free reign until 1800. I was with a group of guys that made the day especially fun. They had never been before so I got to show them all around.
One thing that stuck out all day was when we decided to go on Space Mountain right before lunch. We figured it wouldn’t be TOO long of a wait. Luckily, we went in and got right up into the ride loading room. What we didn’t understand was that that room was a zigzag full of waiting lines that took us an hour and a half to get through. By the time we had actually gotten to the front of the line we were so burnt out from waiting we didn’t even fully enjoy the ride.
We spent another hour recovering from our sore feet during lunch. Overall this trip has been hard work but also very fun. Building the houses is back breaking and lots of sweating but as each piece goes on we get to see the whole house come together. I’ve made lasting friendships and I’ve had experiences that I won’t forget for a very long time.
