Take a moment to read this interview with 1/C Daniel Madsen. The future is bright for this young man who will earn his degree in just a few weeks. He is wrapping up his college experience at Massachusetts Maritime Academy by making a difference in Guatemala.

A. Have you ever traveled outside of the United States? If so, where have you visited?
"When I was younger, I traveled to China when my younger sister was adopted. Now, I frequently take trips to Canada."
B. What other experiential learning experiences or internships have you completed related to your major? (when/where/what you did)
I have done the EM Experiential Learning trip to Eustis, FL my freshman winter, besides that, this will be my first Co-Op."
C. What inspired you to pursue a degree in Emergency Management & Homeland Security?
"I am interested in State and Federal Law Enforcement. Emergency Management is used in many different disciplines and I believe having this educational background will help during my law enforcement career."
D. What two classes related to your major have had the greatest impact on you?
"The two classes that had the greatest impact were "Transportation Security" and "Legal Issues in Emergency Management", both taught by Professor Cadwalader."
E. What would be your "dream job" after graduating?
"My dream job would be a Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Hampshire State Trooper after graduating."
F. What have you done to prepare for your trip to Guatemala?
"Within the months and weeks leading up to leaving for Guatemala, I have been refreshing my Spanish vocabulary."
